“Swarm” is another take on immigration and borders that recalls the hypnotic motion of Marley’s “Exodus”. Former UK Prime Minister David Cameron called immigrants from Syria a “swarm”. It was meant to be a derogatory, dehumanising slur. But here Asian Dub Foundation turn the insult on its head. In nature, a swarm is an incredible display of collective intelligence, symbolising the power of a unified action that allows a swarm of bees to act “ten times faster than the speed of thought”. We are the swarm, and “history dictates we will take what is ours”.
